If Nigeria were a person, she would be a 56 year old woman. A woman with numerous kids and husbands that come and go. She’s the woman she is today because her husbands keep taking and they never give, they take for their family, they take for their mistresses, they take for their kids with other women, they take her body, soul and essence, even when she’s down and broken, they still keep taking. Every husband leaves her a little broken (some more than others) but she has to keep believing that there’s still a chance she could find The one. She meets another man after a few years, he promises to take care of her and the children and make life better for them by improving their standard of living. She needs to believe so badly that she can one day find love, that the next man will be the right man and won’t take her for granted; so after much persuasion from different potential suitors, she settles on the one she believes in the most and sometimes, they end up treating her worst than the previous husband. As a child of Nigeria, what are my options? Can a child hate her mother? No matter how broken The Motherland may be, we love her anyway because out of her were we born. You can go far and wide, you can change your accent and your appearance but you can not scrub Nigerian out of your skin.
Together, we are unbreakable.
I believe that i can make a difference and i’m going to try with my sweat
I believe that my generation will create the change we so desire
I must believe that better days are ahead. We must believe.
Dear children of Nigeria, gone are the days when we hope that our prayers can change the state of the economy and make the currency stronger. It is your responsibility as a Nigerian to grow the country too in your own little way. When we combine all’ our little way' we make a very big way. Do your part, do not play the victim endlessly, you can be the hero that the country needs, look to the works of your hand and create.

MOTHER NIGERIA
THE NIGERIA OF OUR DREAM
The Nigeria of our dream
It's the Nigeria of our dream because, it's is an individual and collective contributions by Nigerians to get to our dream land. Obviously, we have not got to half our goals.
Have you wondered why we have successful Nigerians but not a successful Nigeria? An irony right?....
Yes we dream to have a Nigeria where there is constant power supply, good education, fair leadership & a share of humanity & many others. But, it's disheartening how the opposite we see & digest into our systems tagged "The normal way of the Nigerian life".
We become successful in whatever we do because, we know and apply the principle of that target thereby getting a good result. For us to live successfully as Nigerians, we have to *apply the principles of National growth by the citizens*. I am not here to preach politics & bad leadership but, humanity! You know how you treat & relate to that human next to you. You know how you endeavour to keep your little environment clean. You alone know!
The word Nigeria, was coined from *Niger area* not *Western area* and that is why we are *Nigerians not Westerians*. So unfortunate the dignity of the African Culture is dwindling. How most of us can not speak our mother tongues, can not dress in our traditional attire and prepare our local meals. Waxing cold!
Nigeria is *one* nation containing several cultures. Not different Nigeria's! Right? So, why the *ethnicity & tribalism*?
I can vividly recall how I recited the national anthem & pledge daily back then in high school. "I pledge to Nigeria my country to be faithful, loyal and honest... As a Nigerian am I truly being faithful, loyal and honest in my actions, self & inactions? Don't you think these little things matter? Rather than pointing fingers to some president guy. Let's think about this.
*we are proudly Nigerians*
*This is our nation, We can not run.*
*Together we can live in unity*.
*It's dependant on you & i*

TEAM
If this is not motivation, i don't know what it is.
I got determined to write this for my fellow students after i received what i call a blessed piece from my sister.
I thought about all my friends, of which greater part are my colleagues. I thought about all i had worked for, all my efforts,, the late nights, the example that I want to set for the next generation and my kids, the fees i pay, i also thought about the mentors, the professors who effortlessly try to develop our professional skills, trigger our intellect. Let us speak our mind so they can have a better sense on how to guide us. I thought about about Kasarachi, professor Ozo Mekuri Ndimele, a brilliant mentor who effortlessly is involved in every lecture, every grade and still share jokes.
We have different personalities in class, annoying students, funny, bold, quiet, nerdy, super intelligent or just the know it all. Look around you, these are going to be not only your friends or colleagues, but also your source of inspiration to achieve your goals. Your TEAM.
TEAM stands for "Together Each Accomplishes More." And that's exactly what will have to happen. Not only will we be working individually but also in group where we will have the challenge to bring together different kinds of people with different perspectives to participate in one course. Remember, "none of us is as smart as all of us."
Education is the core of our society and human beings. It runs like a highway through our lives. It takes us from early years learning through primary and secondary school to tertiary education and life-long learning of skills and knowledge. For every person, education provides the skills for better employment, improved health, life opportunities, welfare and well being.
Today we are taking a new step into a world where higher education is undergoing rapid and dramatic transformation. We live in an era when knowledge is growing in importance in addressing the worlds most pressing problems, when technology promises incredible possibilities, when global forces increasingly shape our lives and works, when traditional intellectual fields are shifting and converging and when public expectations and demands of higher education are intensifying.
Unfortunately our country haven't provided institutions that creates opportunity for a second field of interest. Where we have the poetry club, drama, music, sound engineering etc. Outside your main field of study to enlighten us and create more opportunities. And in many more years to come, this might not be seen in our part of the world and institutions. Do we then limit ourselves to just our course of study? The onus is on us, boys and girls hungry for success to help our self find a way to live a life of fulfillment and to impact the nation positively. Education is the key to success so they say, to match this quote, am gonna say buildings this days doesn't have just one entrance or key, that implies something. Find what fulfilled you and go for it.
In all, an educated workforce will allow us to effectively pursue our goals, visions and missions of our people, organizations and society. So education is in our societies best interest. Study and work to employ not just studying to get employed.
I cannot stress enough the important role Uniport and the Linguistics family has further in educating me. This is something we all have to support and that is why we're here today. So let's make sure that we grow, change, learn while inspiring others to do so too. CONFUCIUS one said "the will to win, the desire to succeed, the urge to reach your full potential............ These are the keys that will unlock the door to personal excellence.."
I hope our time in this unique citadel changes our life. It may get difficult at times but keep going, it will be well at the end.
Good luck with your studies.
Have fun.
Love.

Notes From The Crab
Onyeije Emmanuel Chizurum
I last heard from her a "century" ago, but now she's calling because I'm needed.
If love is felt only when one is needed then the concept is alien to me.
Though Imperturbable, my inner man is pained.
If I was certain the future holds no place for us, I would not have shared my past.
Like the beauty of Delilah could make one justify the stupidity of Samson, I could justify mine, cause she's twice that.
Her Beauty can displace the sun at noon.
Though every natural thing come and go, my feelings for her remain like the words of the MESSIAH.
Each time I ink my experience on a blank space, critics call it fiction, but only the wise understands that fiction is a reflection of reality.

Fear Of The Night
If only the nights could be deterred. The dark of which loud footsteps waken the flesh to hours of terror. For the past seven nights my eyes, brain and body has known no rest. Dre beats no longer the ear prevent from gunshots... For the past nights left me with both Joy and Regret of living big. You are almost protected physically from owners of the night but by the same things that makes you the target in the dark. From gate to gates, home to homes, room to rooms well armed bikini men invaded and raided. NIGHT INVASION. Helpless we lay with the fear of been shot. Watching our parents and siblings too helpless in their hands. In the hands of children no match physically to their kids but for the fear for life and of guns They are bowed. Night into nights continuous robbery. Robbery in the heart of the Government. A shame to the government. And I search for the days we benefitted for living amidst government officials loaded and well guarded with men of the Nigerian force. Our force. But none could arise in time of need. We are left only to our fence, burglary and security dogs while they enjoy in their rooms the comfort of the armed officials. I recall the day i was punched for keeping hair while the ones that requires punch are hailed. The cost of the tears, health, sleepless nights and lost lives resulting greed and foibles of our Government they cannot repay for their heads shall lay the weight of all victims. Increase in crime and death rate yet they remain undeterred of their decisions and leave the people in strait. Unforeseen efforts from our dim-witted officials whom in earnestness splurge our revenue. Am been disliked for writing against them and for every ogle.. Perhaps they have forgotten that their is one that we believe more on and has never failed. God.
